WOW! My first blog. Never even knew what it was, till recently! Let me start by telling you why I'm blogging. My husband and I moved to Brick, NJ, to a house on the Manasquan River, almost two years ago. We moved from a standard housing development, with lots of kids and dogs, that drove me insane. We started looking for a house on a river at least three years ago. We finally found the house of our dreams, on the Manasquan River, in April of 2006, moved in on Aug. 1, 2006, so we're coming up to our second anniversary in our new house! We've done a total interior and exterior renovation, which just wrapped up last week, THANK GOD. I was the general contractor, which was an interesting experience, to say the least.
Anyway, after we moved in, I started noticing so many different birds. I discovered a bald eagle nest, right across the cove from our house, got in touch with the state, and have been the state's official bald eagle nest observer for almost two years!!! Very exciting to watch!!! The second set of eaglets is gradually moving further away, which they're supposed to do, but I'll miss them. The two adult eagles won't be around much anymore either, not till the fall, sometime in November, when they start sprucing up their huge nest again!

This is one of the first pictures of the adult male eagle that I ever took!! He was gorgeous, and his significant other is equally as spectacular!!! I've taken some great pictures of the eaglets too, although not this year's, they were too scarce. Last year's young ones were much more photogenic, as you can see!!

So many photo opportunities, so little time!!! There have been so many beautiful birds, it's really amazing. I've seen rose breasted grosbeak, baltimore orioles, blue & gray herons, egrets, osprey, several types of hawks, eastern towhees, plus all the usual birds; cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, finches and lots of various woodpeckers!
